Health monitoring

Liam Roche adopted the Nedap CowControl technology to streamline health monitoring and improve efficiency on his farm. Influenced by positive referrals from friends and discussion group members, he decided “that’s the route we would take.” Implementing the system in October and November during the cow drying-off period, Roche noted, “We saw two cows came up on the urgent attention list one day, we rang our vet, the vet came out, both cows had pneumonia.” This timely intervention enabled faster recovery and reduced antibiotic use and costs. Roche shared, “Twenty past seven in the evening I could find that the cow was back ruminating again that she was getting better.” The system allowed him more personal time, stating, “I find I have a lot more time to spend with my young family, going to hurling training, football training,” and improved his staff’s efficiency.

Heat monitoring

Furthermore, Liam Roche also adopted the Nedap CowControl system to enhance heat detection and streamline farm operations. Previously, he spent significant time tailpainting cows every three days and monitoring them closely. He described the process as, “a lot of work going out of the field, keeping a very close eye on them.” With the new system, “it’s just all on the phone at the click of a button,” saving time and effort. The system also improved their breeding process, leading to higher submission and pregnancy rates: “Our submission rates are much better this year and if you have a good submission rate, hopefully you have a good pregnancy rate.” Roche finds it makes life easier for him and his staff, saying, “I would have no hesitation in recommending the Nedap CowControl system to any other farmers.”

He highly recommends the Nedap CowControl system to other farming families, saying, “I would have no hesitation in recommending the Nedap Cow Control system to any other family.”
